Dear Friends,

I’m planning to shoot a photography project on the Ukrainian/Polish border to help Ukrainian refugees as they flee their country.

My goal is to benefit the lives of those I photograph by getting much needed financial aid directly into refugee hands as quickly and effectively as possible.

I’m going to Krościenko, a Polish town in the South East close to the Ukrainian border where many media channels are already reporting from and a post where many refugees are known to be heading towards. There I will photograph as many people as I can who have fled. I desperately want to help and this is something I can do.

Plan of Action.

I will shoot digital and mint an NFT collection for speed. I will take my plate camera and shoot on film for a book later but minting, getting sales and your help are more important for now.

Time is of the essence as you know. Many have left with nothing. My girlfriends family are among them. Many arrive at the border safe but completely lost and in desperate need of shelter and basics. Every little helps.

Inspired in part by the recent Fellowship Trust - August Sander NFT collection; the objective documentation style of Sander’s "Citizens of the Twentieth Century", this is a moment in Ukraine’s history where the faces, families, stories and tragic disruption needs to be documented for historical and cultural importance.

With your help, I plan to personally help as many people on the ground as I can, by getting the funds from sales directly into their hands.

More details will come on this but I plan to create a collection of at least 50-100 photographs, selling each NFT for 0.25 ETH. 100% of each sale will be given directly with proof of transfer to the family/person/persons in the photograph. I will collect as much personal information as I can from each and every person and follow up with them personally/directly. A ledger for every transfer will be used and made available.

About Me.

My name is Anthony Maule (b. 1974). I’m a British photographer based in New York City. I’m a graduate of Falmouth School of Art and Design and my work has been shown in a number of group exhibitions internationally including The National Portrait Gallery in London, FOAM Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam and Galleria Camera 16, Milan.

I’ve just set up my Twitter account. Please follow me there @MauleAnthony and I’ll follow you back. I don’t use Instagram but my account there is @anthony.maule. I may post real-time photographs there for this special project.

Funding the Project.

To help fund this crisis project, I’m going to be looking to sell a few photographs from the series that are non-portraiture in nature that examine the culture, religion and landscape of the communities surrounding the Ukrainian border in Poland.
They’ll also be priced at 0.25 ETH each.

We just don’t know how this war on Ukraine will escalate but at this rate there will be millions of displaced Ukrainian refugees in Europe. As a European, I cannot just stand by and watch. I need to do something. I need to go and be there.

How you can help.

Please like and share with as many people as possible if this is something you can support and get behind. If you know collectors that want to make a difference to the lives of those affected by this war, please like and share this also.

Sincerely Anthony
